Coca-Cola HBC Opens Cairo Digital Hub Serving 27 Markets
Coca-Cola HBC has officially opened its Digital Hub in Cairo, establishing a global delivery centre that will develop and operate digital systems supporting the company’s business across 27 markets in Europe and Africa.
The hub currently employs around 250 professionals and is expected to expand to 450 by 2027. According to the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), the facility is projected to generate approximately $34 million annually in digital export revenues for Egypt.
Ahmed Elzaher, Chief Executive Officer of ITIDA, represented Raafat Hindy, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, at the inauguration. Also attending were Dr. Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance; Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade; and Zoran Bogdanovic, Chief Executive Officer of Coca-Cola HBC, alongside senior government and company executives.

The Cairo hub brings together expertise in artificial intelligence, software engineering, quality assurance, user experience design and agile delivery, serving as a centre for developing and managing business-critical digital platforms across Coca-Cola HBC’s operations.
It becomes the latest addition to the company’s technology network alongside established digital hubs in Sofia, Bulgaria, and Athens, Greece. Coca-Cola HBC said Cairo will lead software engineering and development as part of an international technology team of more than 500 professionals managing over 130 software products. Early initiatives include an AI-powered application that helps field sales teams personalise promotions in real time and an enhanced customer portal.
Coca-Cola HBC, the Swiss-headquartered strategic bottling partner of The Coca-Cola Company, serves approximately 750 million consumers across 29 markets. The company entered Egypt in 2022 through its acquisition of The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Egypt, laying the foundation for the new digital investment.

According to Ahmed Elzaher, Chief Executive Officer of ITIDA, discussions with Coca-Cola HBC began in 2024 as part of efforts to position Egypt as a competitive destination for digital services and global business operations.
The collaboration culminated in a memorandum of understanding signed during the Global Offshoring Summit, covering the expansion of digital exports, specialised talent development and the scaling of advanced technology operations.
Elzaher described the hub as a milestone in the partnership between Egypt and multinational technology investors, reflecting the government’s commitment to developing digital talent and strengthening the country’s digital exports.

The investment aligns with Egypt’s broader strategy to establish itself as a regional hub for outsourcing and digital services.
Under its digital economy strategy launched in 2022, the government has promoted the country’s large pool of multilingual graduates to attract multinational technology investments. ITIDA says Egypt signed agreements with 55 global and local companies in 2025 that are expected to create more than 75,000 jobs over three years, with Coca-Cola HBC among the participating firms.
The country already hosts major global capability centres operated by companies including VOIS by Vodafone, Atos, Teleperformance and Microsoft.
For Egypt, the significance of Coca-Cola HBC’s investment extends beyond the 450 planned jobs. By selecting Cairo to lead a core software engineering function rather than a traditional back-office operation, the company reinforces the government’s ambition to position Egypt as a destination for high-value digital engineering and technology services.
