Francis Mwangi Appointed Head Of IT And Projects At CIB Kenya

Francis Mwangi Wokabi has been appointed as the Head of IT and Projects at Commercial International Bank – Kenya (CIB). He joins the bank following a 4 year spell at Platcorp Holdings Plc, where he was serving as Group Head, IT Security and Infrastructure.

At his new role, Mwangi will be responsible for the bank’s digital infrastructure, IT Security, and project delivery. He will be the bridge between high-level business strategy and technical execution, ensuring the bank’s technology systems are secure, scalable, and fully aligned with regulatory requirements.

Wokabi’s appointment at CIB Kenya marks another step in a career that has largely been shaped around IT infrastructure, information security and technology management. Before joining Platcorp Holdings, he served as Head of IT Services & Information Security at Twiga Foods, where his responsibilities placed him at the intersection of technology operations and security.

Earlier in his career, Wokabi was Head of IT at TripleOKlaw LLP, giving him experience managing technology within the professional services environment. His progression from leading IT functions to taking on broader responsibilities around infrastructure and information security reflects a career that has gradually expanded from technology operations into strategic IT leadership.

Alongside his corporate roles, Wokabi continues to maintain links with the wider technology and academic communities. He serves as an Advisory Board Member at CIO Africa by dx⁵, and is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the School of Science and Technology at United States International University-Africa, where he contributes to the development of technology skills and knowledge.

Academically, Wokabi holds a BSc in Business Information Systems from Middlesex University and an MSc in Information Systems Security from Strathmore University. He is also pursuing a PhD in Information Technology at United States International University-Africa.
