Lanre Bamisebi Returns To The Boardroom As Access Bank’s Technology Chief
Access Bank Plc has brought technology into its boardroom, appointing Olanrewaju “Lanre” Bamisebi as Executive Director, Information Technology and Digitalisation.
The appointment took effect on October 28, 2026, following approval by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Access Holdings Plc, the bank’s parent company, disclosed the move in a notification to Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) on October 31.
For Bamisebi, the move represents a short walk across the group. He spent the previous four years in a similar role at Access Holdings, having joined the holding company in 2022.

That chapter closed on September 30, 2026, when his retirement from Access Holdings took effect at the end of his term contract. The company said the change aligned its executive leadership with the CBN’s Corporate Governance Guidelines for Financial Holding Companies, which limit holding companies to two executive directors: the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Financial Officer.
The rule left no seat for a technology executive at the holding-company level.
At the time, the board thanked Bamisebi “for his dedicated service and valuable contributions to the digital transformation and growth of Access Group.”

Four weeks later, he is back on a board, this time at the operating bank, where his remit covers its technology and digitalisation agenda.
It is also something of a homecoming. Bamisebi previously served as Chief Information Officer at Access Bank, and his career has taken him through some of the continent’s best-known banks and telecommunications companies.
He was Group Chief Information Officer at the former Diamond Bank, Head of IT Projects at MTN Nigeria, and Group Chief Information Officer at United Bank for Africa Zambia.

East African technology leaders will also know him from his time in Nairobi, where he served as Executive Group Director for IT and Operations at Equity Group Holdings and later as Managing Director of Finserve Africa, Equity’s fintech arm, between 2020 and 2022.
Bamisebi holds an Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Science, a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Olabisi Onabanjo University, and a bachelor’s degree in Computing and Information Technology from the University of Derby in the UK.
