Paratus Expands EA Connectivity With Goma-Mombasa Fibre Route
Paratus Group is using ITW Africa 2026 in Nairobi to highlight the expansion of its connectivity infrastructure across East Africa, including the activation of a 2,000-kilometre terrestrial fibre route linking Goma in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with Mombasa on Kenya’s coast.
The Goma-to-Mombasa (G2M) route passes through Kigali, Kampala and Nairobi and is now live and carrying traffic. The connection creates a terrestrial east-west route across several East African markets while providing access to international subsea cable capacity through Mombasa.
Paratus is among the technology and telecommunications companies participating in ITW Africa 2026, which is bringing together players from across the global connectivity ecosystem in Nairobi to discuss developments in telecommunications infrastructure, data centres, cloud services and digital networks.

The G2M route is part of Paratus’ wider expansion in the region. The company has established points of presence and network interconnections at data centres and internet exchanges, providing additional routes for traffic between networks and markets.
The infrastructure is being complemented by satellite connectivity. Paratus recently launched Starlink services in Uganda, providing an additional connectivity option for businesses operating in locations where terrestrial infrastructure may be limited.

The G2M connection is particularly significant for inland markets because of its link to Mombasa, one of East Africa’s major subsea cable landing locations. The route gives traffic from markets including the DRC, Rwanda and Uganda a terrestrial path towards international connectivity available on the Kenyan coast.
Paratus is also using ITW Africa to introduce a Layer 2 connectivity service over low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellite infrastructure for the East African market. The service is designed to provide private connectivity between offices, branches, data centres and remote sites.

The developments come as businesses operating across East Africa increasingly require connectivity that can support cloud services, data-intensive applications and cross-border operations. At the same time, differences in infrastructure availability between urban centres and remote areas are driving demand for a combination of fibre, wireless and satellite technologies.
For Paratus, the G2M route adds another terrestrial connection across the region, while the Starlink service and LEO-based Layer 2 offering broaden the connectivity options available to businesses in areas where fibre connections are less accessible.
The company is engaging customers, partners and industry stakeholders at ITW Africa 2026 as the event examines the infrastructure requirements behind Africa’s growing digital economy.
