A disruptive leader is one who is always looking for better solutions and ways to establish new processes. They also constantly working to make an impact on the business and the community as a whole.
At the 2021 #CIOFintechSummit, Dr. Haruna Mawanda, CEO, Flyhub Technologies, Uganda noted that disruptive leaders are those who deliberately innovative and includes their team members in the processes of maintaining transparency and allowing for more convenient decision-making.
“Disruptive leadership is a mindset,” he said. “This kind of leadership will help leaders accomplish milestones without worrying about shaking up things or altering the paths to obtain the necessary results.”

A distinctive component of disruptive leadership style is that leaders expect the unexpected and thrive with the highest levels of uncertainty, being ideal for guiding the team and transmitting calm and trust, reports PDA International.
Disruptive leaders have the personal strength of character to stay the course because disruption can and will take take time. A sisruptive leader must be fearless in pursuing the truth, decisive and inspiring confidence, adaptable and understand that disruption can cause uncertainty. They also involve their teams in decisions making process.

But good as it sounds, disruption sometimes leads to fewer profits and lower margins in the business. This is nowonder some business still operate roughly the same way as they have done for years, even in the face of digitisation.
