Njideka Akabogu Appointed Managing Director At ID Africa.
BHM Holdings has appointed Njideka Akabogu as Managing Director of ID Africa, effective 1 January 2027.
Akabogu will lead ID Africa’s operations across Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania and Ghana. She will be responsible for strategy, growth, client service, market partnerships, intelligence, talent development and the continued expansion of the company’s pan-African network.
ID Africa is a pan-African communications, media and intelligence company that helps businesses and institutions understand and engage African markets, working through local teams in those four countries. It sits within BHM Holdings, the communications and technology group founded in Lagos in 2006, which also includes the public relations consultancy BHM and Plaqad. Across its first nine editions, the group’s NECLive platform hosted more than 500 industry experts, attracted more than 100,000 participants, reached more than 100 million people in over 50 countries and helped facilitate more than 1,000 deals and partnerships.

She joined ID Africa in 2016 as a community manager and has since worked across editorial, content strategy, public relations consulting, client leadership and regional management. She became Regional Manager for East Africa in 2022 and has played an important role in developing ID Africa’s operations and partnerships across the region.
Ayeni Adekunle, founder and CEO of BHM Holdings, said her appointment rests on how well she understands the continent. “Njideka understands that Africa is not one market and that meaningful continental work must be built on local knowledge, strong relationships and respect for cultural differences,” Ayeni said.
“She joined ID Africa close to the beginning of the company’s journey and has grown through nearly every part of the business. She has worked in content, media, consulting, client service and regional expansion. I have watched her take on difficult responsibilities and grow into a thoughtful, confident leader. I am happy that she will now lead the next stage of ID Africa’s development.”

Akabogu has delivered communications programmes for media, entertainment, technology and consumer brands. Her experience includes assignments for MultiChoice, DStv, Showmax, ViacomCBS Networks Africa and Betway, as well as content strategy for a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation COVID-19 vaccine-hesitancy campaign in Nigeria. She holds a degree in Information Science from Abia State University, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Lagos Business School.
Looking ahead, Akabogu said the company’s purpose has not changed, but its importance has grown. “ID Africa was created to help organisations understand and engage African audiences more effectively,” Akabogu said. “That mission has become even more important as African markets, media systems and creative industries become increasingly connected to the rest of the world.”
“Our next phase will combine local intelligence, creativity, data, technology and partnerships. We want to build a company that understands each market on its own terms while helping clients operate successfully across the continent.
