Technology Is Our Best Shot At Improving The African Education System (Video)
Technology is helping us in many things here in Africa but not doing much to improve education. In some cases, technology has been blocked from integrating itself into the education system. Examples like students being denied access to phones in school because it will be a distraction even though it could also be a learning tool.
In Sub-Saharan Africa, there is already an existent education crisis where 30 per cent of 6-11-year-olds and 60 per cent of 15-17-year-olds are already out of school.
The education system in Africa has significant challenges and it will take years to overcome this without incorporating technology. Speaking to CIO Africa, Joseph Nsengimana, the Director of African Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning in ICT at Mastercard Foundation shone a light on how technology can be used to improve Education in Africa.
