Safaricom PLC has appointed Fawzia Ali as the new Chief Consumer Business Officer. Until her confirmation, Fawzia was serving in acting capacity since July 2022.
Her appointment was announced by the company’s CEO, Peter Ndegwa, who celebrated her confirmation saying that the company is confident with Fawzia to drive the company’s consumer business mission and strategic objectives.
“We are confident that she is the right candidate to drive the company’s Consumer Business Mission and strategic objectives. This appointment showcases our commitment to developing diverse internal talent into senior roles, as we recently celebrated hitting our target of 40% of senior women in leadership,” Peter Ndegwa said in his social media post announcing the appointment.
With over 20 years’ experience in finance, sales and commercial, Fawzia has a deep understanding of our market as well as consumer trends and economic landscape. She has been in Safaricom since 2007, when she joined as a Senior Manager – Reporting, Accounts Receivable and M-PESA, and rose through the ranks holding various leadership roles.
In her new role, Fawzia will continue to be responsible for leading the Consumer Business team towards growing our market share and creating innovative consumer solutions through the development of new products, digital CVM, terminals strategy, and customer insights.
“We are excited to see how her leadership and expertise will help us to build on the progress we have made so far and take our Consumer Business to new heights,” Peter Ndegwa added.
