Red Dot Distribution Names Nishad Mairal CEO
East African-born technology distributor, Red Dot Distribution, has restructured its leadership with Nishad Mairal being appointed as CEO. This has also seen co-founder Munir Bharwani transitioning from Chief Executive to Managing Director.
In a statement, the company said Bharwani will guide the broader direction of the business in his new role, while Mairal leads the company forward and drives its next phase of growth. The transition, it said, reflects a business built over 25 years on long-term thinking, strong partnerships and continuous evolution. The company dubbed this ‘a new leadership chapter’.
Mairal’s appointment is a promotion from deep within the ranks. He joined Red Dot in 2009 as a country manager and rose over sixteen years to General Manager for Marketing and Sales across the company’s entire Middle East and Africa footprint, latterly overseeing sales and category management. He holds a master’s degree in business management.

Confirming the appointment, Mairal said he was “deeply honoured and humbled to begin this new chapter,” paying tribute to Bharwani’s trust and mentorship over the years.
Bharwani, who graduated in 1985 as a specialist in data management with a minor in commerce, co-founded Red Dot and has been its chief executive since inception, building it from a Tanzanian trading operation into a multi-country distributor. His move to Managing Director keeps the founder inside the business in a strategic, direction-setting capacity, a succession structure that hands day-to-day leadership to an internal operator while retaining the founding vision at board level.
The handover adds to a season of leadership renewal across the African technology channel and its adjacent industries.
