Microsoft is reportedly in discussion to purchase a 49 per cent stake worth $10 billion in OpenAI, the parent company behind ChatGPT.
ChatGPT is an AI chatbot designed to mimic human-like conversation based on user prompts. It is popular for its ability to engage in human-like conversation with users, provide personalized responses, write essays, and code, and even provide guidance on tasks like cooking among other functionalities.
The funding conditions stipulate Microsoft would acquire a 49 per cent stake of OpenAI, the other 49 per cent shared by other investors. The OpenAI parent nonprofit remains with 2 per cent.
