Factor Advisors, a subsidiary of ETF Managers Group, in partnership with PureFunds®, ISE ETF Ventures, and EE Fund Management, launched the PureFunds Video Game Tech ETF (ticker: GAMR). GAMR, the first exchange-traded fund dedicated to video game technology, begins trading today on NYSE Arca and has an expense ratio of 0.75 percent.
“We welcome GAMR to the growing family of PureFunds SelecTech ETFs,” said Andrew Chanin, CEO of PureFunds. “Investing in technology has developed as a sector where its different segments redefine existing industries or introduce new economies altogether, and it’s become increasingly important for investors to consider thematic, targeted exposure to reflect these changes.”
GAMR will seek to correspond generally to the price and yield performance of the EE Fund Video Game Tech™ Index (index ticker: GMB), which tracks thirty-six exchange-listed companies across the globe actively engaged in supporting or utilizing the video gaming industry under the following qualifications:

- Companies that produce accessories and peripherals in support of the video game, interactive training or simulation segments.
- Large conglomerates whose business models actively support the video game, interactive training, or simulation segments.
A sampling of holdings include Activision Blizzard, Inc. (ticker: ATVI), Logitech International SA. (ticker: LOGI), Nintendo Inc. (ticker: NTDOY), and Nvidia (ticker: NVDA).*
“Video games provide consumers with compelling cost-per-hour entertainment value, and attractive margin opportunities for software developers,” said Ted Pollak, President of EE Fund Management. “The demands for processing and graphics capability motivate semiconductor companies to produce faster and more efficient chips. Platform makers continually improve their systems. Peripheral and component makers enjoy repeat sales of input devices, accessories, and computer parts. New paradigms like virtual reality, free-to play, and game streaming expand opportunities and keep innovation fresh. All this adds up to a dynamic and evolving industry landscape with multiple paths for potential future growth.”
“As a supporter of PureFunds SelecTech ETFs and first-to-market ETFs in other diverse industries, ISE ETF Ventures continues to open up emerging technologies and markets that were previously unavailable to investors of all types and sizes,” said Kris Monaco, Head of ISE ETF Ventures. “We are pleased to work with Factor Advisors, PureFunds, and EE Fund Management for the PureFunds Video Game Tech ETF.”
