dx⁵ Gearing Up For Africa Golf Tour
dx⁵ has today rolled out its inaugural annual golf tour. Named the dx5 Africa Golf Tour, the first tournament kicks off the Digital Transformation (dx100) Symposium & Awards on 23 November 2022 at the Leisure Lodge Beach & Golf Resort, Diani. This first golf tournament in the tour will kick off a year-long series expected to end in Southern Africa at the end of 2023.
The tour has been developed through bold partnerships with adidas Golf as the official apparel partner and the Element Golf Academy, “a cutting-edge, people-first golf coaching academy” based in Johannesburg.
“Element Golf Academy is proud to partner with dx⁵ supporting the acceleration of digital transformation across Africa through the game of golf. Our goal is to empower tech leaders to use the beautiful game to develop meaningful business relationships as well as refine their skills and hopefully have fun along the way,” said Greg Bentley, Founder and Head Coach, Element Golf Academy.

Golf has a solid reputation for building business networks, fostering relationships and even closing the odd deal at the 19th hole. Fondly known as the game of life, it is also said that you can learn a lot about a person both personally and professionally after playing a round of golf with them.
“We, at adidas Golf are extremely proud to be partners of the dx⁵ series. We share a vision and passion of growing the game in Africa and through the series it enables leaders of industries to network, enjoy the game we all love and ultimately grow participation in Africa,” said Damian Tsouris, Senior Manager, Head of adidas Golf South Africa, adidas.
Andrew Karanja, Co-Founder & Director at dx⁵ and golf enthusiast believes this golf tour and the partnerships it has inspired, will highlight not just the sport of golf, but that it will provide players with the opportunity to form their own diverse business relationships and friendships.

“Golf is more than just a game. It was created as a form of relaxation and fun in the tech world, particularly since COVID-19. It has been seen as a welcome release from the relentless pace the industry faces. It has a competitive edge, but ultimately the game has no real competitors except the player. There is no better test of one’s character than the game of golf, it’s never plain sailing. There is always another hurdle around the corner. The sooner you realise that, both in life and in golf, the less it surprises you and the more you are prepared for it.”
As Co-Founder & Group CEO at dx⁵, Kelly Bentley is intent on encouraging inclusivity and diversity in business and sees golf as an opportunity to drive this agenda. “The need for a deeper connection to create sustainable business growth is critical in digital transformation, one of the ways to do that is to build lifestyle activities into an everyday business engagement.”
Having only taken the game up in the last year, Bentley is passionate about making it accessible to all, particularly women in tech. “The tour will be built such that it is accessible to everyone, partnering with the right partners to make the game enjoyable even to those who have never played it.”
