Dan Kwach Returns To ADC To Take Up New AI Role
Dan Kwach has returned to Kenya and rejoined Africa Data Centres (ADC), taking up a new role as Executive for AI Data Centres after a brief stint in Madagascar.
Kwach, who previously served as Africa Data Centres’ Eastern Africa Executive, confirmed his return in a LinkedIn post, saying he was “happy to be back home” and would be joining the Cassava Technologies AI team under Africa Data Centres. His new role will focus on building and operating data centre infrastructure capable of supporting the growing demands of artificial intelligence, as AI workloads place new requirements on computing capacity, power and cooling.
“Exciting and quite humbled to take up a new role as Executive for AI Data Centres at a time when more questions than answers around AI make for global headlines,” Kwach said.

He added that Africa needs to play a more active role in shaping the continent’s AI future.
“One thing is for sure, we either get a seat on the table when this assessment is happening or be on the menu as a continent,” he said.
Kwach’s return follows a short period in Madagascar, where he took up the position of Deputy CEO at StellarIX. He said the experience gave him an opportunity to learn from a different culture while reinforcing his view that African markets share common ambitions despite their differences.

“The short season I’ve had in Madagascar made for an exciting opportunity to learn different cultures with utmost appreciation that we have a common desire and ambition for this great continent,” he said.
Kwach’s return to ADC also comes at a time when AI is reshaping the data centre industry. AI workloads require significantly higher computing density than many traditional enterprise workloads, putting greater pressure on infrastructure providers to rethink how facilities are designed and operated. Beyond infrastructure, Kwach said Africa’s technology development needs to remain connected to broader socioeconomic priorities, including enterprise growth, sustainability, security, resilience, trade, job creation and productivity.
“The challenges remain the same and Tech for Good must align to Africa’s socioeconomic priorities in enabling and spurring growth in the Enterprise sector, ensuring innovation and sustainability go hand in hand, that security and business resilience remains top of mind, supporting continental and global trade at scale, job creation and increasing productivity and efficiency,” he said.

Kwach’s return also marks a new chapter following his departure from ADC after 19 years. At the time, he said he was leaving the organisation to pursue a new opportunity outside the Cassava Technologies group.
He has now returned to the group with a mandate centred on one of the most significant developments facing the data centre industry, as African operators look to position their infrastructure for the rapid growth of AI.
