Bolt Integrates Ride-Hailing Into ChatGPT
Bolt has expanded access to its ride-hailing platform by integrating its services with ChatGPT, allowing users to plan and initiate ride bookings through the AI assistant before completing the trip in the Bolt app.
The move makes Bolt one of the first ride-hailing platforms to integrate directly with ChatGPT, enabling the AI platform’s reported 900 million weekly users to request rides as part of a natural conversation while planning their journeys.
The integration allows users to receive an upfront fare estimate, compare route options, view estimated driver arrival times and identify the most convenient pickup location without leaving the ChatGPT interface. Once a user decides to proceed, the trip details are transferred to the Bolt app, where the booking is confirmed and payment is completed.

The feature has been rolled out across all of Bolt’s markets globally.
For now, payments remain within the Bolt app, although the company says it plans to introduce the ability to pay for rides directly within ChatGPT in a future update. Users must also manually connect their Bolt account through ChatGPT before accessing the service.
The launch reflects the growing role artificial intelligence is playing in travel planning and everyday consumer interactions.

According to Accenture’s Consumer Pulse Research 2025, which surveyed more than 18,000 consumers across 14 countries, 80% of travellers worldwide now use AI tools to help plan their journeys, while more than half said they would be willing to allow AI to manage their travel arrangements entirely.
Caroline Wanjihia, Regional Director for Rides Operations, Africa and South East Asia at Bolt, said the company believes ride-hailing should evolve alongside changing consumer behaviour.
“People don’t plan their evening in five different apps anymore. A lot of that planning happens in one conversation with AI now,” said Caroline Wanjihia, Regional Director Rides Operations, Africa and South East Asia. “For years, booking a ride meant opening a dedicated ride-hailing app. As more everyday interactions take place through AI, we think requesting a ride should be just as straightforward: ask, see the price, and go.”

The integration also signals a broader shift in how mobility services may be accessed in the future. As AI assistants increasingly become the starting point for planning trips, entertainment and daily activities, transport providers are exploring ways to embed their services directly into these conversational platforms instead of relying solely on standalone mobile applications.
Unlike traditional ride bookings, where users must open a dedicated app from the outset, the ChatGPT integration enables transport planning to happen naturally within a broader conversation, whether someone is organising an evening out, planning business travel or coordinating multiple activities.
While competing ride-hailing platforms have introduced various AI-powered features, Bolt’s direct integration with ChatGPT differentiates it by embedding ride requests within one of the world’s most widely used generative AI assistants.
The company indicated that expanding the experience to include in-chat payments is part of its future roadmap, further reducing the number of steps required to book a ride through conversational AI.
