Acronis Launches First Data Cloud Data Centre in South Africa
Global cyber protection firm, Acronis has launched its first data cloud data centre in Johannesburg, South Africa as it seeks to expand its presence in the continent.
The data which is one of the 111 new data centres being deployed globally by the company will give service provider partners access to cyber protection solutions upon which they can build new services while delivering faster access, constant data availability, and data sovereignty to their clients.
“The opening of the South Africa data centre is part of the Acronis Global/Local Initiative, an effort that includes global management for all data centres, geographic redundancy, and control for local partners, and a local disaster recovery site – all with competitive pricing,” the firm said in a statement.

Peter French, regional general manager, Middle East and Africa, Acronis said, “The goal of this initiative is that service providers will have no trouble meeting the ever-changing compliance, data sovereignty, and performance requirements they and their clients face,”.
Denzil Moorcroft, sales director channel partners, 4Sight Dynamics Africa, one of the firm’s distribution partners expressed confidence in Acronis’s capability to meet localisation requirements of all organisations.
“Our partners and their customers can look forward to locally-hosted cyber protection solutions, which will give them peace of mind and security, from a global partner like Acronis,” Moorcroft said.

The global network of Acronis Cyber Cloud Data Centers already includes more than 40 data centres. From Europe to Asia and from the US to Africa.
The firm’s CEO Patrick Pulvermueller previously said that Acronis will launch operations in Kenya this year noting that the East African country is among those earmarked as growth targets between 2022 and early 2023.
