Xbox Game Camp Africa Returns For 2025
Xbox has announced the return of Xbox Game Camp Africa for its third year, reaffirming its mission to nurture and elevate game developers across the continent.
In partnership with ID@Xbox’s Developer Acceleration Program (DAP), the 2025 edition introduces a new format: a 12-week structured program designed specifically for pre-selected professional game studios from across Africa. During the camp, participating teams will progress from game ideation to a working prototype or vertical slice, guided by dedicated mentors from Team Xbox.
Since its launch, Xbox Game Camp Africa has welcomed more than 1,900 emerging game creators. Among its success stories is Kenyan studio Kunta Content, whose debut title Hiru was conceived during the first two camps. The studio recently unveiled a trailer showcasing Hiru’s rich landscapes.

“We are beyond excited to finally share a glimpse of the world of Hiru,” said Dean Gichukie, CEO and Game Producer at Kunta Content. “This trailer is a testament to our team’s passion and the incredible support from Xbox, starting with Xbox Game Camp, allowing us to showcase the beauty of the Masai Mara, the mysteries of the Congo, and the starkness of the desert.”
The official kickoff for Xbox Game Camp Africa 2025 is set for December 4 in Cape Town, South Africa, held in collaboration with Africa Games Week.
Building on the event’s previous two-day conference format, which featured workshops, expert panels, and content for developers of all levels, the expanded program aims to give professional African game studios deeper mentorship and hands-on experience to accelerate their projects and strengthen the continent’s growing game-development ecosystem.
