Winners of the just recently concluded CIO Golf tournament, received the iPhone 6 courtesy of Airtel. The people who received the iPhone award were; Mr. Peter Gathuri, overall winner of the tournament and Mrs Teresia Odoo, who was the lady winner. On receiving the device Mr. Gathuri expressed his joy and gave the rest of the audience a few pointers on how to achieve such fetes themselves. High Court disbands CA’s board over irregularities
The High Court has disbanded the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) board over irregularities in the appointment procedures. According to The Daily Nation, Judge George Odunga, on Friday last week quashed the gazette notice on the appointment of seven members of the panel for being conducted outside the statutory timelines, effectively leaving the media and telecommunications regulator without a board.
KNA digitization drive to be completed by December 2015

How much do you know about Kenya’s History? Well, soon, Kenyans will be able to go down memory lane, by browsing photographs and audio clips of Kenya’s history, wherever they are this is after ICT Authority announced that they are helping KNA digitize all their images and expect the digitization drive to be complete by December 2015. Kenya News Agency (KNA) holds more than 500 thousand copies of images and audio clips that are now being digitized. The photo library collection dates back to 1936 and documents Kenyan life through the decades.
23 more Huduma Centres to be set up in urban centres by year end
The Kenya Government plans to open up an additional 23 Huduma Centres across all major towns in the country by the end of this Financial Year. This was announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta as he led the country in marking the 52nd Madaraka Day Celebrations at Nyayo Stadium.

Kenya’s public primary schools to get electricity to drive laptop project
President Uhuru Kenyatta has promised that all public primary schools will have electricity in the coming months through the school electrification programme. This will help the Government in rolling out the Digitized Curriculum for schools as well as begin the roll out of the laptop project promised by The Jubilee Government in their Manifesto. This announcement comes a week after President Uhuru launched the Last Mile Connectivity Project which he saw 40,000 transformers commissioned therefore lighting up every village in the country.
Airtel Kenya gifts Premier customers on Madaraka day
Airtel yesterday gifted its Premier customers born in 1963 as Kenya celebrated Madaraka Day, the day when the country attained internal self-rule, preceding full independence from the United Kingdom on December 12 the same year. The gifting is aimed at appreciating top Premier customers who have been on the network for over 10 years. Each of the selected customers received a gift hamper with Premier branded power bank, Airtel Premier VISA card and a Premier catalogue.
Avanti, TTCL in deal to expand Tanzania’s satellite broadband network
Avanti Communications has signed a new contract with TTCL (Tanzania Telecommunications Company Ltd), Tanzania’s incumbent national telecoms operator. The contract will expand TTCL’s high-speed broadband network to customers beyond the bounds of fibre infrastructure. Deployed via Avanti’s HYLAS 2 satellite with 100 per cent coverage of Tanzania, TTCL will supply a new satellite broadband offering to its consumer, enterprise and government customer base imminently.
