Safaricom in court to block Orange Kenya sale over Kshs 640 million debt
Safaricom has filed a certificate of urgency before the High Court in a bid to block Orange from selling its 70% stake in Telkom Kenya to Helios Investment Partners. The sale was announced last month, but Safaricom says that it is concerned that it will be unable to recover Kshs 639.8 million it is owed by Telkom Kenya if the sale goes ahead.

Generation Investment Management leads $19 million equity round in M-KOPA Solar
M-KOPA Solar has announced the closing of a US $19 million financing round led by Generation Investment Management LLP. M-KOPA provides off-grid customers a way to leapfrog over expensive and unreliable grid power and benefit from solar power on their own roof. The company is on track to reach its initial target of one million homes in East Africa by end 2017. The new investment from Generation and others will be used to further expand the company’s management team, product range and international operations.

Kenyan firms should pay more attention to Cybersecurity heading into 2016
Recent findings from the 2015 Kenya Cyber Security Survey show that of the 275 organisations in Kenya that participated, 21 per cent of respondents within these organisations in Kenya are not concerned about cybercrime at all. The same survey also revealed that many reported that these organisations do not have enough staff and security expertise dedicated to IT security.

Airtel Kenya offers free internet to teacher training institutions in Kiambu County
Teachers in Kiambu County will no longer rely on chalk to pass down knowledge. Airtel Kenya has in partnership with Computer for Schools (CFSK) today continued with its Internet for Schools training workshop for teachers in the County. The training aims to provide teachers with latest e-learning skills and help more schools to embrace ICT integration in learning
