Facebook’s mobile momentum posts positive growth in Kenya and Nigeria
Facebook has shared new statistics revealing that 2.2 million Kenyans use Facebook every day and 4.5 million each month, while 7.1 million Nigerians use Facebook daily and 15 million are active every month. Almost all these people are coming to Facebook on a mobile device: 100% of Nigerian monthly users are active on mobile as are 95% of Kenya’s monthly users.

President Kenyatta asks Italian investors to take advantage of the online VISA application
President Uhuru Kenyatta Wednesday opened the Kenya-Italy Business Forum with an assurance to the Italian business community that his government has streamlined the visa issuance process to make the document more accessible. The President said the introduction of online visa application by his government was aimed at making it easy for Italian businesspeople and tourists to travel to Kenya.

Safaricom Foundation has established a Kshs 50 million Technology for Good Innovation fund aimed at growing social innovation locally. The fund targets investors in the social innovation field who may need technical and entrepreneurship support to develop and deploy mobile technology solutions.
Bungoma County to set up a Kshs 250 Million Innovation Centre
Bungoma County govt is planning to set up an Information, Communication and Information Incubation and
training centre dubbed iHub to help in revenue collection, research and job creation for the county’s youth and help the county digitize its processes. The Ksh 250 million (US $2.5m) iHub centre (no relation to iHub Nairobi) is expected to be set up at Matili Technical Training Institute in Kimilili Sub County and will be home to high speed Internet access for research, ICT training in mobile app development, cyber security and system audit as well as be a hub for online job opportunities.
