Safaricom to extend 4G coverage to 13 towns by year-end
After Safaricom rolled out its 4G network in Nairobi and Mombasa, the telco plans to extend it to another 13 towns and cities by end of 2015. The firm’s CEO Bob Collymore announced this while releasing its financial results for the period ended March 31, 2015. Safaricom recorded a continued growth in all revenue posting a total revenue that increased by 13 per cent to Kshs 163.4 billion.

President Uhuru Kenyatta this week launched the 10th World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference website at State House, Nairobi.President Kenyatta announced the launch through his Twitter handle on Tuesday this week, notifying the public that he had also launched the event’s logo. “I launched the Tenth World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference #MC10 logo and registration website” the tweet read.

Huawei today announced that the new M-PESA service for Safaricom is now running on its open, secure, flexible and high performing Mobile Money Platform after it migrated all 12.8 million active subscribers overnight. TechMoran reported last year when Safaricom hired Huawei for this task.TheHuwaei Mobile MoneyPlatformis built to deliver basic banking transactions in developing countries and its technology works on both smartphones and feature phones.VodafoneandHuwaei have been working on the version since 2012.
