Safaricom: Accumulated ‘Karibu PostPay’ bundles won’t expire on May 26
Safaricom has rescinded its decision to terminate accumulated resources of its ‘Karibu PostPay’ subscribers following an online uproar against the decision which was communicated to clients on Thursday April 30. The decision by the telco came just two days after it had announced via a text message to subscribers that all the accumulated resources – voice minutes, SMS and data bundles – won’t expire on May 26 after all. : “We are happy to inform you that your PostPay1000 bundle will not come to an end on 26 May but unused SMS, Data &Minutes will expire. New bundle validity is 30days,” stated the SMS.

Airtel begins network upgrade in Nairobi to allow customers access uninterrupted services
Airtel Kenya has reiterated that it is working to improve the quality of its 3.75G network performance in Nairobi in order to provide a stronger signal and faster data speeds to its customers. The company has confirmed that the network upgrade in Nairobi has started in order to allow customers to continue accessing uninterrupted quality of service. The project involves UMTS 900 Mhz spectrum upgrade which will significantly enhance indoor coverage penetration and improves data quality for Airtel 3.75G network users.
Seek injects USD 10 million investment into One Africa Media

Australian based online employment marketplace, Seek announced its USD 10 million investment into One African Media (OAM). This investment is part of USD 20 million that the company shared with Babajob.com, its first investment in the Indian market, which Seek diluted 38 per cent of the equity interest.
Equity Group to acquire a million more Equitel SIM cards
Equity Group is set to bring in the second bunch of a million Equitel SIM Cards, but is awaiting an approval by Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) on what their next prefix will be. This was confirmed by John Staley, Chief Officer – Finance, Innovation And Technology during an investor briefing on financial results of the bank in the first quarter, where they recorded a net profit at Kshs 4.2 billion compared to Kshs 3.8 billion a year earlier. This came as total interest income rose 12.5 per cent to Sh9.4 billion, largely driven by a 25.3 per cent jump in the loan book to Kshs 224.7 billion.

Silvia Njoki scoops Blogger of the Year award at 2015 BAKE Awards
The annual BAKE (The Bloggers association of Kenya) awards took place on Saturday night at Hotel Intercontinental. Silvia Njoki of the fashion and style blog Silvianjoki.com was awarded the blogger of year title taking over from Biko Zulu of Bikozulu.com, who was last year’s blogger of the year. Silvia was the overall winner of the blog of the year award and also had a landslide win in the fashion blog category. Bikozulu retained his title as best creative writing blog and so did ghafla in the entertainment category. MichezoAfrika and Techmoran also maintained their titles as the best sports and technology blogs respectively.
