Kenya ranked 3rd in domain name registration in Africa
Kenya has been ranked third in domain-name registration in Africa after Egypt and South Africa. Mr Abdalla Omar, the general manager of the Kenya Network Information Centre (Kenic), said Kenya has about 46,000 domain names.

Kenya’s Safaricom might have to spin off M-Pesa, the world’s largest mobile money business
The Kenyan government is introducing new regulations this week in parliament that could lead to the break-up of Safaricom, the country’s leading Telecom Company. If the new regulations pass parliament, Safaricom could be forced to separate its mobile money unit, M-Pesa, from its mobile phone services (voice and data) and infrastructure businesses, potentially weakening its position in the market.
CIC Insurance buys IT system to enhance medical business services

CIC Insurance Group, has procured an IT software at a cost of Kshs 60 million to efficiently manage its medical business. The software, eOxegen, is enabled by cutting-edge wireless technology that will enable the insurer to manage claims processing, premiums costing and computing business data. The system is Biometric-ID enabled and allows cloud computing in healthcare, global connectivity and instant access to medical data through mobile and web platforms.

Airtel Kenya to invest over $190 million in network upgrade, CSR over next 3 years
Airtel Kenya has revealed that it will invest over Kshs.19 billion ($190 Million) into its infrastructure over the next three years. The infrastructure investment plan is to enable the telecom operator cover network upgrades for voice and data services, brand equity development, customer service outlets, staff training programs and community development programs.
