KRA pushes deadline for filing tax returns on iTax platform by four days
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), has sealed a major milestone in its organisational transformation journey, with the registration of its 2-millionth iTax client. As at midnight Tuesday (30th June), the KRA’s, taxpayer recruitment drive, anchored on online tax filings, had managed to register approximately 2 million iTax users heralding a new dawn in the use of information technology systems for tax administration.

Dennis Itumbi: 4 more Counties to be connected to free Wi-Fi
Residents of four Kenya counties namely; Elgeyo Marakwet, Embu, Meru and Machakos are set to benefit from free Wi-Fi connection, courtesy of the government. This was announced by State House Digital Director, Dennis Itumbi, during the opening of nominations phase of the OLX Soma awards 2015, at the Serena hotel Nairobi.

Wananchi Group, owner of Pay Tv company Zuku, is installing free, unlimited, high-speed fixed internet to over 2,000 public and private schools in Nairobi County. Through a partnership with Kenya Education Network (KENET) and the County Government of Nairobi, over 150 schools have been connected to fixed high speed internet in a piloting that began April 2014.
Kenyan VISA application goes online
All foreigners who want to visit Kenya are now required to submit their applications online, seven days before traveling to the country. This comes after new procedures were announced earlier by the Ministry of Immigration and Registration of persons.

DEMO Africa 2015 application period ends, 654 applications received
The application deadline for DEMO Africa 2015 has expired with a record of 654 applications being received on the application platform. The number closely doubles 2014’s 382 applicants. Last year, some categories had been shunned a situation that stood corrected in 2015. Two critical categories; Waste management and Recycling and Water and Sanitation have a total of 17 entries despite not attracting any application last year.
