WIOCC Joins Internet Society

WIOCC has officially joined the Internet Society (ISOC), a global organization committed to promoting the open development, evolution, and use of the Internet. This membership underscores WIOCC’s dedication to shaping the future of digital connectivity across Africa and beyond.

As a leading provider of carrier-scale, integrated, open-access digital infrastructure and managed services, WIOCC plays a pivotal role in enhancing Africa’s internet ecosystem. The company connects over 30 African countries with major global financial and commercial hubs, fostering greater economic growth and digital transformation.

The move aligns with WIOCC’s strategy of investing in hyperscale terrestrial networks and multiple subsea cables, including 2Africa, Eastern Africa Submarine Cable System (EASSy), Equiano, and the West Africa Cable System (WACS). These initiatives aim to improve connectivity, reduce latency, and expand broadband access across the continent.

Jointly owned by African Capital Alliance (ACA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and 10 major African telecom operators, WIOCC remains at the forefront of Africa’s digital transformation. This new partnership with the Internet Society is set to further its mission of delivering high-capacity connectivity and empowering businesses, governments, and individuals across the continent.
