VIDEO: Growth Opportunities for NFTs and Cloud Gaming in Africa
There are words that are flying from the tech world to the rest of the world and a lot of people are wondering what is really going on. NFTs, Metaverse, Crypto, Cloud Gaming are just but examples of tech word the world is hearing but with little understanding.
Take NFTs for example, they were explained to me a gazillion times but I still had a lot of questions. Non-Fungible Tokens are the talk of the world and a lot of people are making money from them everyday.
At CIO Africa’s ‘The Year Ahead’ event, there was a heated panel discussion on the future of NFTs and Cloud gaming in Africa in the year 2022. The panel was led by Michael Michie, a techie, a gamer, and a CIO in Kenya.

Michie was joined by Jay Shapiro – the founder of Usiku Games, and Ben Roberts – CTO at Liquid Intelligent in the panel discussion. The panel looked at how Africa can benefit from NFTs and Cloud Gaming.
We need to have creators in Africa creating these NFTs and actually making money from the venture. Creators are already existent in Africa but they don’t earn much because there aren’t enough viewers to make as much as creators in the United States do.
Cloud gaming also has an opportunity for growth in Africa. According to Jay Shapiro, Africa is the place to go when looking to develop a cloud-based gane that is accessible via smartphones because there are over 400 million smartphones in the continent.
