Twitter Planning To Debut Safety Mode
Social media platforms have been called to action towards cutting down on hate that is spewed out on their platforms. Unfortunately, social media has slowly been morphing towards a no bounds system that allows individuals to speak out on their insensitive or often hateful remarks.
Twitter is now launching a feature that is pipped to help crack down on abuse and trolling, both of which have become huge issues for the platform.
“When the feature is turned on in your Settings, our systems will assess the likelihood of a negative engagement by considering both the Tweet’s content and the relationship between the Tweet author and replier,” senior product manager Jarrod Doherty said in a blog post.

Alongside dealing with abuse on the platform, Twitter has become more determined to crack down on misinformation. In August it partnered with Reuters and the Associated Press to debunk misleading information and stop its spread.
Noticeably, Twitter has made instrumental strides in cutting down on hate on their platform, strides such as hiding negative replies to your tweets, and showing a warning before you potentially tweet a harmful tweet. But, harassment continues to be a major problem on the platform, as evidenced recently by the torrent of racist abuse against Black players on England’s football team following their Euro 2020 championship loss.
