Some of Kenya’s top technology enthusiasts are set to be judges at a hackday event dubbed; UrbanHackDayKE which is organized by UN-Habitat, the United Nations organization for sustainable cities and @iLabAfrica.
The judges who are set to preside over the event, set to take place from the 25th-26th of September at the Strathmore University, are as follows;
George Rabar, George currently serves since 2012 with Ericsson Kenya Limited as Customer Project Manager for the Sub- Sahara Africa.

Kate Kiguru: the CEO of Ukall, an ICT firm based in Nairobi. Kate is at the forefront of business process automation through building mobile & web solutions that allow organisations to improve efficiency ensure accuracy & save time & resources.
Judith Owigar: a techpreneur, a blogger and a tech enthusiast. Judith is a co-founder and the Operations Director of Akirachix; a revolution for African women and technology. Judith is also the founder of JuaKali – an online micro-jobs platform that links skilled manual labourers in Kenya’s informal sector (commonly referred to as Jua Kali workers) with employers in the construction industry.
Robert Yawe: the MD, KAY System Technologies. He is a designer of local (Kenya) and wide area networks with a vast knowledge and experience in open and proprietary connectivity solutions. Yawe is also a senior mentor at Strathmore University-@iBizAfrica.

Dr. Joseph Sevilla: currently Director of @iLabAfrica, a Research and Innovation Centre at Strathmore University (Nairobi, Kenya). He is also the Director of @iBizAfrica, a business incubator at Strathmore.
According to a brief description of the event on its official website, the hackday is being organized to help solve Kenya’s urban challenges.
“We’re looking for people passionate about technology, social change and cities to take part in a 24 hour tech challenge. Together with experts in the field, you will be developing tech solutions that can be used to improve urban areas. Not a coder? Don’t worry. We are also looking for people interested in urban planning, marketing, entrepreneurship, social change, graphic design, project management and more.” The description continued.
