Starlink Now Accessible On Jumia Platform Kenya
Jumia has announced the availability of Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency satellite internet on its platform in Kenya.
Starlink services have been available in Kenya since 2023. However, the initial expenses posed a challenge for numerous prospective users. The residential package, comprising the dish antenna, mounting tripod, and Wi-Fi router, was tagged at $662 alongside extra charges for shipping and a monthly subscription fee.
Jumia comes in as a reseller to help drive growth not only in Kenya but also in Nigeria. The availability of Starlink kits on Jumia marks the second phase of a strategic alliance that initially launched in Nigeria. The Starlink Residential Kit is available on Jumia for $294 a significant price adjustment aimed at making this technology more accessible to a broader audience.

“This agreement aligns perfectly with our mission of using technology to improve lives across Africa,” said Hisham ElGabry, Group Chief Commercial Officer, Jumia Group. “By expanding access to Starlink’s internet service through the Jumia platform, individuals and communities can be empowered with high-speed, low-latency internet access, driving economic growth and unlocking new opportunities.”
SpaceX is currently hiring a growth manager for Starlink Internet service in Sub-Saharan Africa. The growth manager will join the Growth team and will be responsible for launching, growing, and improving Starlink throughout Africa. The candidate will also be accountable for Starlink’s growth and success in the region, identifying and removing barriers to growth, championing user experience, and driving initiatives to accelerate adoption.
Jumia utilizes its logistical network and customer base to distribute Starlink kits directly to consumers throughout Kenya. In turn, Starlink gains access to Jumia’s reach and capacity to showcase its technology to a larger audience.

The full kit includes a user terminal (satellite dish), mounting tripod, and Wi-Fi router, all designed for simple setup and automatic alignment with satellites passing overhead,” noted Hisham ElGabry, Group Chief Commercial Officer, Jumia Group
The significant price reduction is part of a limited-time offer running until mid-May. Starlink has been advertising this “massive 55% discount” on Kenyan social media platforms. It remains unclear whether the discounted price will be available on Jumia’s platform beyond mid-May.
