I am all for the idea of innovation, techies and tech companies coming up with incredible gadgets, apps, you know all things tech but really this got me wondering and I asked myself are some things really necessary. But hey, that’s just me!
Spanish mattress company, Durmet has created the Smattress, a mattress that claims to track the suspicious usage of your bed when you’re not on it.
With Lovers Detection System the company claims that the mattress composes of vibration sensors in the springs and contact zones detector which will basically send you a notification that unconventional movement are occurring on your mattress to your app that shows you a speedometer, intensity and impact per minute, pressure points.

Apparently the app is downloadable but according to an article by Jenny McGrath of Digiatl Trends she states that, “I had a hard time finding a website for Durmet, beyond the one for the Smarttress. Its Twitter account only has 108 followers and has been up and running since March. The only way you can purchase the Smarttress is to send an inquiry email to Durmet, and the company will get back to you “as soon as possible.” Clicking on the buttons that should take you to the app on the Android or Apple store just redirects you to the Smarttress site (though, to be fair, the iOS app is listed as “coming soon”).”
Durmet came up with the idea following increased reports on infidelity cases especially in Spain, though the production is still ongoing different sources claim the Smattress will be in the market soon with the price ranging from $1750- $2100. The company also has a YouTube video to expound more on the issue.
I would like to ask few questions is the mattress tempurpidic? Does the app have an on and off button considering the one who bought it might be using it? Is the app limited to the buyer or can anyone just download the app and use it?

Here’s my two cents on the matter, I know that Durmet sees a problem and claim to have a solution but one- most people don’t cheat using their beds, two- why would someone go through all the trouble of acquiring a mattress to prove their partners are cheating and my final question is, for you to buy a mattress (one that is expensive for that matter) that relationship definitely has trust issues and no tech involvement will change that fact.
