The move comes amidst a growth in smartphone penetration. The latest data from the Communication Authority of Kenya indicate that feature phones fell by 2..4 per cent in the year to June 2023 to 32.1 million compared to 32.9 million in the same period the previous year.
“On the other hand, the number of smartphones used grew by 15 per cent during the same period to 30.8 million up from 26.8 million in the same period last year,” said Vincent Onyango Business Manager, Salute World, adding that “The growth in the devices market has led us to achieve a remarkable 30 per cent growth in comparison to the year 2022.
