Safaricom recently launched the new Safaricom Platinum service which will be available on the mySafaricom App and see users enjoy affordable data, sms and voice bundles as well as benefit from partners such as EatOut, Shell & Ticketsasa.
The partnership with EatOut will see Platinum customers enjoying up to 25% off at over 100 restaurants in Nairobi, simply by checking in at restaurants with their MySafaricom app.
Sylvia Mulinge, Director Consumer Business Unit said via a press statement:
“After successfully rolling out Safaricom Blaze for the younger market, we wanted to focus our attention on the discerning professionals. Platinum offers the simplicity of managing your lifestyle through your phone and rewards you where it matters most.”

To take advantage of these rewards, existing mySafaricom App users can select and purchase the Platinum plan of their choice using airtime or M-pesa. Platinum plans range from Ksh.2,000 to Ksh 10,000 per month and include data, voice and unlimited SMS. The new app also provides the convenience of managing bill payments from the comfort of your home or office.
EatOut has a long history of partnerships with the telecom giant, previously working with Safaricom to introduce Lipa Na Mpesa to restaurants in 2013 and most recently as title sponsors of EatOut’s annual Nairobi Restaurant Week 2018. EatOut’s Managing Director Mikul Shah also sat on the advisory board for Safaricom’s Spark Innovation Venture Fund in 2016.
Safaricom Platinum
Safaricom launched its new platform last week. The product (as reported earlier by CIO East Africa) targets high value customers with value that matches their lifestyles.

The innovative digital-only proposition will offer customers a range of monthly plans with voice, SMS and data services, as well as access to lifestyle-friendly offers in partnership with brands such as Shell, eatout.com and Ticketsasa.
During the launh, Sylvia Mulinge, Director – Consumer Business, Safaricom said that platinum is targeted at the discerning professionals, who form 17% of the total Safaricom customer base and are known to spend a lot of time online.
She also said that data being a big focus for Safaricom this new offering will help subscribers plan and accommodate their usage that fits into their lifestyles.

Safaricom customers will have two options when they sign up for Platinum: Platinum Plus and Platinum. Platinum Plus is a monthly plan that comes with data limits of up to 40GB and 4,000 voice minutes, while Platinum allows subscribers to consume and renew their subscriptions as they go, using airtime or M-PESA, with up to 30GB of data and 3,000 voice minutes depending on the subscription value.
Safaricom has put four platinum plans in place ranging from Kshs 2,000 to Ksh 10,000.
Through the plans, Platinum and Platinum Plus subscribers will enjoy unlimited SMS and have access to a personal bill manager that will simplify bill payment by filing all the customer’s bills in one place.
