Safaricom Appoints Two New Directors To Its Board
Safaricom has announced the appointment of Dr (Eng.) John Kipngetich Mosonik and Murielle Lorilloux are non-executive directors to its Board of Directors, effective August 23, 2023.
These new appointments follow the recent departure of Michael Joseph, a former Board Director, the resignation of John Ngumi from the Chairman position earlier this year, as well as the departure of Prof Bitange Ndemo as a board member.
Dr Mosonik, one of the newly appointed non-executive directors, is a seasoned technocrat with an impressive track record spanning over 35 years. He has a diverse background, having held key positions in both the public and private sectors. Notably, he has served as the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Infrastructure and as the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining.

Dr Mosonik’s educational background includes a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration (DBA) with a focus on Strategic Leadership from Northcentral University (USA), as well as a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from Moi University.
Lorilloux currently serves as the Chief Strategy & Commercial Officer at Vodacom Group. She brings with her extensive experience in telecommunications, having previously held executive roles at Vodacom Group in the UK, where she managed business operations in European cluster markets and Vodacom’s international business. Lorilloux has also held prominent positions such as CEO and President of the board of Vodafone Romania, as well as Managing Director of Vodacom DRC. Throughout her career, she has held key positions with Orascom Telecom Algeria and has garnered over 25 years of experience in General Management, commercial strategy, and consulting within the telecom industry across African and European markets.

Lorilloux holds a Master’s degree in Economics (Management and Marketing) from Paris Nanterre University, along with a Master’s degree in Business Management and Strategy from the ESCP Business School.
