Nairobi’s Westlands Primary to receive a fully equipped computer lab

Westlands Primary School in Nairobi will soon be equipped with a computer lab to enable students embrace digital learning. This will boost e-learning and further improve the standard of education in the school.

 Westlands MP, Hon Tim Wanyonyi pledged to initiate projects that will ensure all public primary schools in his constituency compete favourably with their private counterparts.  Hon Wanyonyi urged parents, teachers and students to support the programmes initiated in the school while he was at the school’s prize giving day.

Shinyalu MP, Hon Silvers Lisamula has celebrated Westlands MP, Hon Tim Wanyonyi’s efforts in promoting education in Westlands Constituency. Hon Lisamula lauded the Westlands MP, for his ICT project in the Constituency, which he said will go a long way in promoting computer literacy among the students.  The legislator was speaking at Lower Kabete Primary School during a ceremony to open a fully equipped computer lab donated by Westlands MP, Hon Wanyonyi, on Friday, October 23, 2015.

The Computer Lab Project comprises of 40 computers, internet connectivity and two servers linked through the new NComputing desktop virtualization technology.

Other than being used as a fountain of knowledge by the schools, the computer labs will also be used to impart Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills to the pupils essential for their future.

Eight institutions have so far benefited from the Computer Labs Project: Lower Kabete Primary School,  Loresho Primary School,  Kabete Vet Lab Primary School, Hospital Hill Primary School, Kangemi Primary School, Visa Oshwal Primary School, Highridge Girls Secondary School, Kangemi Youth Polytechnic

Westlands MP, Hon Tim Wanyonyi in his remarks at Hospital Hill Primary School, emphasized his commitment in supporting education by improving the infrastructure in schools. He said his office will expand the ICT project to cover all the public schools in the constituency. The Westlands MP directed the school management to utilize the facilities in the newly launched ICT resource centre. Hon Wanyonyi also urged all the education officials present to ensure education quality and standards in  Westlands Sub County are maintained and improved.
