Nairobi County, AWS Partner To Transform Service Delivery

Nairobi County and global cloud provider Amazon Web Services (AWS) On Wednesday announced a partnership aimed at boosting innovation and digital skills in the region.

The partnership, which was announced under the leadership of Governor Sakaja Johnson and in the presence of AWS Global Director of Government Transformation, Liam Maxwell, will focus on enhancing citizen engagement, growing digital skills, and accelerating startup growth.

Robin Njiru, Regional Lead at West, East, and Central Africa at AWS, said on LinkedIn that the collaboration would help the Nairobi County Government to transform its service delivery. “We are glad to firm up the transformational collaboration between Amazon Web Services (AWS) & Nairobi County,” he said.

The new Nairobi County administration has been implementing several initiatives aimed at digitally transforming its service delivery. On Thursday, the County signed a partnership with Safaricom to digitize its services and operations. Under the partnership, Safaricom will develop and support the “My Nairobi App” as part of the “My Nairobi” hub that provides digital services and citizen engagement.

The collaboration between Nairobi County and AWS is expected to build on these initiatives, driving innovation and growth in the region. By providing access to AWS’s cutting-edge cloud technology and digital expertise, the partnership aims to help businesses and government agencies in Nairobi County become more agile, efficient, and competitive.
