Dell Tips Organisations On Maximizing Edge to Cloud Continuum
The 5G technology has set a great momentum for edge computing, which comes with new opportunities for organisations to improve their offerings.
Faras Hassanieh CTO Ambassador Dell Technologies Middle East, Russia Africa and Turkey gave a talk on Edge to Cloud Continuum during the CIO100 Symposium and Awards where he highlighted that edge computing enables organisations to break beyond the limitations that come with using traditional cloud-based networks.
“Traditionally we used to have centralized data centres. Now what we are looking at is sort of an extension of the quality so that we no longer incur the expense of storing our data and protecting it from being expanded across,” he stated.

While highlighting the benefits of edge computing, he said, “It is driving a seismic technology shift in terms of real-time control and insight as well as enabling organisations to handle large volumes of data,”. However, he also mentioned that “Environmental constraints, managing IT at massive scales, supporting distant locations, security of data and assets and fragmentation of the IT environment due to dealing with different vendors stand in the way of deriving the full value of edge computing”.
