Mark Nkurunziza has been appointed MTN Rwanda’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), to attract top talent and spur exponential growth, replacing Mrs. Lily Zondo, who served from 2016, being integrally involved in accelerating service revenue growth driven by the implementation of MTN’s BRIGHT operational strategy.
Not new to the company, Mark has worked at MTN as a Senior Financial Manager between 2004 and 2012. He brings over 20 years of extensive leadership experience in the financial services sector specifically in Financial Management and Risk Management to his new role.
Speaking about the appointment, MTN’s CEO, Bart Hofker, said, “Under Mark Nkurunziza’s executive leadership as Chief Financial Officer, we are embarking upon a very exciting phase of our journey of growth and development. We are happy to welcome him, and I am confident that he will bring immense value to the MTN Rwanda team.”

Mark is a Chartered Accountant (CPA Rwanda) and is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He also holds an MBA in Finance earned from the Maastricht School of Management and has a Bachelor of Commerce from Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST).
Speaking on his appointment, Mark said, “I am pleased to be rejoining an iconic company such as MTN Rwanda and I look forward to my new role in supporting the delivery of the BRIGHT strategy.”
Prior to joining MTN Rwanda, he was the Chief Financial Officer for 6 years at the Rwanda Development Board and had a stint in the aviation industry when he served at the National Airline, RwandAir, as a Finance Manager from 1998 to 2004.
