Makini Schools Unveils ADvLEARN, A Digital Learning Tool

Makini Schools, a member of the ADvTECH Group, has unveiled ADvLEARN, a digital learning tool designed to leverage adaptive learning technology for enhanced academic success.

The innovation’s approach involves empowering teachers with the ability to identify and address knowledge gaps in key subjects, ultimately leading to improved student success and academic excellence through leveraging AI-generated data insights.

ADvLEARN platform has been successfully rolled out to all 36 campuses within the ADvTECH schools divisions, impacting over 13,500 students.

The platform’s secure online environment complements traditional classroom learning by offering personalized assignments and enabling real-time progress monitoring by teachers.

A notable feature of the platform is the ability to equip teachers with precise insights into each student’s strengths and weaknesses. This enables teachers to tailor their teaching methods to suit the unique needs of individual learners, effectively addressing specific learning gaps and ensuring a comprehensive educational experience.

According to data analysis conducted by ADvTECH, students regularly engaging with ADvLEARN experience significant improvements in their subject grades, with progress rates ranging between 15% and 29%.

Mr. Horace Mpanza, Makini Schools Regional Managing Director, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “ADvTECH is committed to delivering digital innovation in education that will enhance the quality of academics offering in all our schools and equip students with the tools they need to thrive in the ever-evolving landscape of modern learning.”

To support the ADvLEARN initiative, a substantial investment of Sh.150 million has been allocated for infrastructure upgrades across all Makini Schools in Kenya. These upgrades include expanding Wi-Fi accessibility both inside and outside classrooms, installing state-of-the-art projectors, and implementing sound bars, facilitating a seamless transition to online lessons when necessary. Additionally, upon completing the infrastructure upgrade, Makini teachers will receive the latest devices and training to enhance their teaching capabilities.

Ms. Hugo expressed confidence in the transformative potential of ADvLEARN, stating, “We are confident that ADvLEARN will usher our schools into the next phase of tech-enabled learning by leveraging the benefits of AI. Our community of teachers in Kenya has shown great enthusiasm for the platform, and we look forward to its successful integration into learning at Makini.”

ADvTECH has already implemented ADvLEARN in 36 schools in South Africa, involving more than 150 teachers and over 13,000 students.

ADvLEARN is scheduled for full implementation in all Makini Schools by May 2024.
