Over 60 other companies have partnered with Safaricom to provide their services through apps hosted on the Mpesa Super App. These include government parastatals and counties. Safaricom provides hosting, distribution, and marketing support to these businesses, and more are expected to join the platform.
In a recent announcement, Safaricom, East African Breweries PLC, and Vivo revealed a new partnership to introduce The Bar and Shell apps on the Mpesa Super App.
The Bar app from EABL allows customers to conveniently shop for drinks, with the added benefit of free delivery. Customers can also book a bar setup for parties and make payments seamlessly through the M-PESA App.

Vivo will provide a loyalty app for customers who refuel at Shell outlets. This app will automatically link to their M-PESA accounts. When customers refuel and pay with Mpesa, they will earn points through the app based on their M-PESA transactions. These points can be redeemed for selected items and services at Shell outlets.
“We are thrilled to welcome East African Breweries and Vivo as partners on the Mpesa Super App. The Bar and Shell apps will offer more than 3 million customers on the app added convenience of online shopping, along with free deliveries and increased value when fueling at Shell outlets. These partnerships align with our goal of empowering customers to achieve more through the Mpesa Super App by digitally connecting them to various businesses and services on our platform,” stated Peter Ndegwa, CEO of Safaricom.
Ndegwa revealed that the M-PESA Super App handles 45 percent of business transactions, with 7 percent of M-PESA’s daily transactions totaling $283.69 also taking place within the app.
