Women seem better positioned today than ever to rise to leadership roles in the faster evolving technology space owing to support structures laid in some organizations, however, their distinct minority in the tech-workforce and leadership positions still calls for deliberate accelerated efforts for empowerment through development programs. One such programs is HerNovation.
HerNovation mooted last year by CIO East Africa was launched during the CIO100 Symposium and Awards. It is a platform that promotes and enhances the inclusion and involvement of more women into active participation in the new wave of digitization purposed to open more opportunities and accelerate businesses said Laura Chite, CEO, CIO East Africa.
“It is primed to heighten this momentum by exploring ways and means of involving more men in creating inclusive work, consistent connections and celebrating women in innovation,” averred Chite.

HerNovation intends to engage women through Mentorships, Trainings and Quarterly meetings and Regional Annual Conferences.
“Steadily, innovative leaps are exponentially breaking the barriers, accelerating opportunities and further prompting more interest and inclusion of women in the tech space that’s traditionally a male-dominated tech-space,” said Chite adding; “ Hernovation being a beacon for women in tech, is dedicated to addressing systemic barriers that have in the past limited women’s rise in this domain through knowledge mobilization, cross organizational learning and strengthening partnerships and alliances.”
HerNovation extends an invitation hand to potential partners who harbor the dream to consider to pool together to help women help themselves in this day and age of digitization.
