The Government pledged to offer the necessary support that will be required from time to time to the Postal Corporation of Kenya to ensure that they offer critical services that will drive the government agenda of growth and value-addition.
This was said by the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology in charge of Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Sammy Itemere, during the launch of the Postal Corporation’s Postal Registered Email (PREM) service at the Stanley Hotel.
The branded service, which is a new technological innovation, will not only enrich the way people connect in a vast society, but also ensure a secure and efficient delivery system for Government, corporates and individuals. The service will also be a platform for a speedy delivery of information and provide convenience and confidentiality desired by clients.

The PS noted that Posta had integrated digital technology that has revolutionised its products and service delivery systems, taking advantage of the dynamism and turning it into a vibrant window of opportunity as opposed the perception of technology being a threat to the organisation during the formative stages.
He encouraged Posta Kenya to take advantage of its vast network to harness more opportunities. ‘The corporation can target the lucrative logistics and financial sectors to claim an edge in business development’ the PS advised.
Mr Itemere said that the Ministry is putting in place a robust National Addressing System that will not only help Posta to increase its efficiency in door-to-door delivery, but also help other stakeholders in enhancing service delivery.

Speaking at the launch, the Postmaster General Dr Enock Kinara, said PREM is a ready-to-go service with no additional software installation and has been integrated with popular applications in the market such as Gmail, Yahoo among others.
He reiterated that PREM will ensure safer, faster and efficient mail delivery platform especially for lawyers when issuing court summons. He also allayed fears over the mailing system, saying similar PREM services are used by the United Nations (UN), The Congress of United States and Coca Cola among others.
