Esther Ngari Confirmed As New KEBS Boss
Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) Rebecca Miano has confirmed Esther Njeri Ngari as the CEO of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
Njeri will serve as the quality standard agency boss will serve for a period of three years.
She is among the three candidates whose names were forwarded to the CS by the National Standards Council (NSC) for consideration for the position following the conclusion of the interviews.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (1) of the Standards Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry appoints Esther Njeri Ngari to be the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Bureau of Standards, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 13th October, 2023,” the CS announced in a gazette notice.
Ngari has been occupying the post since May on an interim basis after former CEO Bernard Njiraini was shown the door alongside 27 others over his alleged role in the release of 20,000 bags of commended sugar.
Prior, Ngari served as Director of Standards Development and Trade at KEBS. Before joining the agency, she oversaw quality assurance, research, and development at the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC).
