“Online learning involves the application of technology to teaching and learning, a broad category that is transforming education and educational institutions beyond recognition,” says Laura Chite, CEO CIO East Africa.
Lauded for having enabled learners to adjust to their own pace of learning by allowing those who need extra class time to have it while those who need less support continue moving ahead, online learning frees up the teacher to help kids who need more support on an individual level. It is important for educators especially during these challenging times when the entire globe is facing the COVID 19 pandemic.

The success of this mode of learning is therefore vital and cannot be overlooked.
“When the pandemic hit, we didn’t sit back but immediately swung to action – planning commenced for continuous education based on the situation, the need, and the requirement,” reads an extract from the Digital Learning Network, on technology-enabled education.

The success partly depends on the curriculum and commitment of both learners and trainers and partly on the training given to teachers, parents, and students. They should get trained on how to use the online teaching portals to maximize the potential of such portals.
The most exhilarating bit of this whole plan is, however, that everybody operates remotely and can, therefore, be very hard to harmonize and control, to say the least. This calls for self-discipline.
