Davis & Shirtliff Appoints George Mbugua As New Group CEO
Davis & Shirtliff Group has appointed George Mbugua as the new CEO following the retirement of David Gatende.
Before transitioning, George was the Finance Director at the Group, a position he has held for 25 years and 10 months.
While announcing the retirement of former Group CEO, Alec Davis the group’s Chair said, “David really has been an exceptional colleague joining the company in 1986 as a young sales engineer from his Canadian university and staying with it for 36 years, a career lifetime. David’s departure has initiated a number of changes to the executive team and I particularly welcome long-serving CFO George Mbugua as David’s CEO successor. He knows the business well and I’m sure he’ll ably fill David’s large shoes”

The new CEO said, “My journey of 26 years with this great company has led me to take up the responsibility as Group CEO with effect from June 2022. It has been a wonderful experience to see and participate in the growth the company has achieved over these years, and high honour and a privilege to be asked to lead such a world-class and important business,”
George has a Master of Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of Leicester and a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Strathmore University.
Davis & Shirtliff Group is the leading supplier for water equipment and energy solutions in the East African region. The group is Kenyan-based and operates regional subsidiaries in Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and South Sudan.
