Canonical Appoints Caesar Tuva As Channel Manager Africa
Canonical has appointed Caesar Tuva as its new Channel Manager for Africa.
Tuva, who brings over 15 years of experience in ICT, cybersecurity, and business development, officially assumed the role on March 23, 2026. In his new position, he will lead efforts to expand Canonical’s partner ecosystem and drive the uptake of open infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, robotics, and sovereign technologies across both public and private sector organisations in Africa.
Canonical, widely recognised as the company behind Ubuntu, has been at the forefront of enterprise open-source innovation globally. The company is increasingly positioning itself as a key enabler of Africa’s fast-evolving digital economy, particularly in areas such as cloud computing, edge infrastructure, and AI deployment.

Announcing his new role, Tuva expressed enthusiasm about joining the organisation at a pivotal time for the continent’s technology landscape.
“I’ve just joined the circle of friends. Today marks the start of my journey with Canonical as the Channel Manager for Africa,” he said. “Africa’s digital transformation is happening at lightning speed — from 5G and hybrid cloud adoption in financial services to edge computing in telecoms and smart cities. I’m excited to help drive that momentum through trusted local partnerships.”
He added that a key focus of his role will be building and strengthening Canonical’s channel ecosystem by working closely with resellers, distributors, system integrators, and technology partners to deliver enterprise-grade open-source solutions more efficiently across the region.

One of the major value propositions Tuva highlighted is Ubuntu Pro, which provides organisations with secure and compliant access to more than 40,000 open-source applications and packages, backed by up to 10 years of expanded security maintenance. The platform supports a wide range of enterprise workloads, including AI/ML, data platforms, and modern application development.
Before joining Canonical, Tuva served as Business Partner Lead at Safaricom, where he played a critical role in forging strategic partnerships. Notably, he was instrumental in Safaricom’s collaboration with Cloudflare and Copycat, a move that positioned Safaricom as the first Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) in Africa. His contributions earned him consistent recognition as a top performer and supported Safaricom’s transition into a purpose-led technology company.
Earlier in his career, Tuva held regional leadership roles at First Distribution and Westcon-Comstor, where he drove the growth of cybersecurity solutions across multiple African markets. During this time, he worked with leading global vendors including Symantec, F5, CrowdStrike, and Forcepoint, delivering complex infrastructure and security projects across West Africa, East Africa, the Indian Ocean Islands, and the SADC region.

His appointment comes at a time when demand for secure, scalable, and cost-effective digital infrastructure is surging across Africa, driven by rapid advancements in connectivity, cloud adoption, and data-driven innovation.
Tuva also acknowledged the leadership within Canonical’s global channels team, noting his excitement about contributing to its vision. “Super excited to be part of the Channels team, led by Rick Fredrickson and Andrea H. Here’s to the new challenges and growth ahead,” he said.
As Canonical deepens its footprint in Africa, Tuva’s appointment signals a strategic push to harness local partnerships and open-source innovation to support the continent’s next phase of digital growth.
