Airtel Kenya today launched a 50-day-long national consumer promotion dubbed ‘Smartika Na 5X’. Though the promotion is currently available to prepaid customers only, Airtel is working on a way to involve postpaid customers in the promo as well.
The new promotion will give its customers a chance to win 50 cars in the 50 day period, as well as daily prizes of cash and airtime. The promotion currently just gives an opportunity to Airtel prepaid customers who achieve their targets on “5X bonus” to win one of the fifty cars, airtime worth Kshs 2,000 or cash prize worth Kshs 2,000.
5X bonus is a prepaid special offer where customers on the Airtel network have the opportunity to enjoy 500 per cent airtime bonus on meeting a daily target on airtime used. The promotion is also open to distributors and retailers of Airtel airtime.

On reaching the 5X target, customers will get a confirmation SMS on target achievement, as well as a complimentary 500 percent air time bonus to use across all networks. You can use the 500 per cent airtime bonus to browse, SMS and make calls across all networks.
Speaking at the launch Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi said that the promotion is in line with the company’s vision of connecting people to each other, empowering them to create opportunity.
“At Airtel, we believe in offering you the best value that money can buy across all our products and services. Whether it’s being able to send money to loved ones and pay bills at no cost, to being able to send that important email and browse even after your data runs out, to getting a 500 percent bonus because we know you love telling stories. All this is about joining the smart deal, the smart network and is the same spirit we want to extend when it comes to the ‘Smartika na 5X’ promotion,” said Adil.

“We are working on a post-paid of this, post paid is a bit tricky because it is after the event so you need to do a calculation and then you need to give a target eception. But we are woking on a Smartika Na 5X bonus for postpaid as well,” said Youssefi.
