One of the flagship projects of the Jubilee Government, was to introduce a central database where Kenyans would access their information with more ease, well this promise came to pass today as the president officially launched The Integrated Population Registration System (IPRS) with an aim of easy verification by the Government. Today also saw the President give a stern warning to the Government Agencies that hadn’t migrated to the e-procurement platform to do so in a week’s time or they will be held accountable of their actions. To sum it all up, the day also saw the launch of the first East Africa connected summit that will this time round bring on board delegates from Somali and South Sudan. Kenswitch, Trendmak, Transnational Bank to roll out localised chip-based payment cards
Kenswitch has partnered with a local IT company to roll out chip-based payment cards to support banks migrate to the new secure platform without incurring extra costs. The move will hasten adoption of the more secured cards from the fraud-prone magnetic stripped cards currently in the Kenyan market.

“A lot has been put in place to ensure the ecosystem is ready to accept chip-based card transactions in terms of upgrading the ATM and PoS hardware and software for driving these terminals. The card is local and cost effective targeting the local market,” said Kenswitch MD George Wainaina during the card launch held at Transnational Bank headquarters in Nairobi.
South Sudan, Somali Government Officials to attend the first East Africa Connected
This year’s East Africa Connected summit is set to attract delegates from South Sudan and Somali. This was announced by Eng. Victor Kyalo, CEO ICT Authority who said that the move to have delegates from the two countries on board also is set to improve custom union and also enhance an integrated community that can be achieved by all the East African nations coming together.

President Kenyatta launches IPRS System to ease verification of citizens
President Uhuru Kenyatta today presided over the launch of an integrated registration system that will provide data on all people in the country. The Integrated Population Registration System (IPRS) is one of the flagship projects of the Jubilee Government, which had promised Kenyans a central database. President Kenyatta launched the system today at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre where he said credible data is critical for development and indispensable for planning and delivery of public services.
