CA: No country has received Digital Migration extension from ITU
The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has reacted to a Sunday Nation article which had claimed that the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has allowed 30 African countries to delay their digital migration beyond the global deadline of June 17, 2015. The CA, in a media release stated that the reports “are not only erroneous but are misleading as the perpetrators have not produced any evidence of such an action by ITU.”

“In any case, as mentioned above, the procedure for amending Geneva 2006 (GE-06) Agreement is very well laid out. An amendment to the GE-06, which set the digital migration deadlines, cannot be undertaken unless it is done through a conference involving all the countries that signed the GE-06 Agreement,” states the release issued by Francis Wangusi, Director General, CA.

One more thing! Digital Migration: Why we need to take it seriously
The Digital Migration process in Kenya can be compared to the legendary Wildebeest Migration, one of the “Seven New Wonders of the World”, also known to some as ‘The World Cup of Wildlife.’
If there is a safari you should go on, this has to be it. Over two million animals migrate from the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania to the greener pastures of the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya during July through to October.
