200 graduates to get internships in Presidential Digital Talent Program
About 200 graduates will be conferred with internships across government ICT Departments tomorrow during the launch of The Presidential Digital Talent Program (PDTP). The launch had been earlier on scheduled for February 3 but later postponed to February 10.

The launch of the program comes after the government through the Ministry of ICT requested all qualified students to apply for the programme since December 12, 2014 to January 9, 2015.
Third BSD license not guaranteed to ADN, to go through international tender
The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has said that the third Broadcast Signal Distribution (BSD) license will now be subjected to an international tender and won’t be a preserve of the 3 media houses currently working under the umbrella of Africa Digital Network (ADN).

The announcement now puts to rest expectations that the license would be given to ADN consortium – which consists of Nation Media Group, Standard Group and Royal Media Services – to enable them carry their own content. During a media briefing in the CA’s headquarters on February 6, Francis Wangusi, the CA director general stated that the tender for the third BSD license would be advertised.
Treasury begins pilot of IFMIS’ e-Procurement for state corporations
Following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive last August to all public entities to automate their procurement processes using IFMIS e-Procurement, the National Treasury has rolled out IFMIS e-Procurement to State corporations on a pilot basis.

The initial phase that commenced earlier this week, is expected to see the automated procurement system deployed in 19 State corporations housed by the National Treasury.
The system is expected to streamline procurement within the public sector and save taxpayer’s money. Up to now, State corporations have used different systems to manage their finances.
Kenya’s Daniel Obam to speak on Digital Dividend at Spectrum Management Conference
Daniel Onyango Obam, a Communications Radio Technology expert at the National Communications Secretariat is set to speak on ‘Designing the Digital Dividend’ at the Sub-Sahara Spectrum Management Conference set for mid this month in South Africa. The Sub-Sahara Spectrum Management Conference will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa from February 18 – 19.
Obam will give his presentation during the session titled ‘Designing the Digital Dividend’, the fourth of seven sessions at the two-day conference.
The event website states: “The digital dividend offers arguably more opportunity for economic and social impact in Africa than in any other region. To achieve this, it is important that a harmonized and co-ordinated approach is adopted, and the 47 countries of sub-Saharan Africa took a big step towards this when last year they became the first region to agree to harmoniously allocate digital dividend spectrum to mobile services in both the 700Mhz and 800Mhz bands.”
Month-long online job fair set for July 17 – August 17
Candidate search engine Workistry.com is organizing a recruitment event billed as the “The world’s Largest Online Job fair” this Year from July 17 to August 17.
During this period, about 30,000 potential employers from 98 countries are expected to be online to hire professionals from Africa and the rest of the world.
