Kenya TV stations shut in switch to digital
Key Kenyan television stations were taken off air on Saturday after failing to switch from analogue to digital signals, leading opposition politicians to accuse the government of creating “information darkness.” Officials from the government’s Communication Authority (CA), accompanied by police, switched off the analogue signal around midday at four major stations – NTV, KTN, Citizen TV and QTV.

Equity Bank phases out BebaCard, moves clients to prepaid Mastercard
Something curious happened last night. At 8.45 pm, I received this SMS on my phone: “Dear customer, the BebaPay service will be discontinued on 15 March 2015. You can either replace your card with the new Equity prepaid MasterCard for free, finish your card balance by 15 March or get a refund after 28 March. For more information, visit a BebaPay Teller, SMS 22729 or call 0711025000/0763063000.” The message was sent by Google. The fact that the message came from Google – who worked with Equity to launch BebaCard – means that the search engine giant is not involved in Equity’s prepaid card.
