IBM extends its ICT driven learning push countrywide
About 3,700 teachers across the country will benefit from training in ICT integration in teaching and learning to boost students’ passion in science subjects, starting January. The programme dubbed Teachers TryScience (TTS) steered by the Center for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) in collaboration with the International Business Machines (IBM) company targets science and mathematics in primary and secondary schools.

Angani moves to reassure clients after service outage
Following weeks of customer complaints about service outage and controversy surrounding the departure of its 2 founders, local cloud computing startup Angani has today moved to reassure clients that it’s ‘back to business as usual’. In a statement, the Angani management now states that they are “now 95% up on all their operations following a system outage that occurred on 4th November 2015.”
Safaricom and British Airways foster SME trip in export market of their choice

At least five small and medium enterprises have a chance to win a trip to an international market of their choice through an initiative by Safaricom and British Airways. The SMEs will get Sh100,000 airtime from Safaricom. This will help them communicate while sourcing for supplies in the chosen market. SME owners are invited to submit a business proposal to British Airways detailing how their businesses would benefit from any of the airlines 114 destinations.
Airtel, CFSK train teachers in Machakos on Internet for Schools program
Airtel has partnered with Computer for Schools (CFSK) to train teachers from Machakos County on Internet for Schools program. The training workshop which took place yesterday at a hotel in Machakos town sought to train teachers from thirty schools from the County on how to use data devices provided by Airtel through the company’s community flagship program Internet for Schools to develop e-content and access educational content online.

UN launches new green energy technology in Kenya
The UN industrial development agency has introduced a renewable energy technology in central Kenya that is capable of producing electric power from small irrigation scheme. The innovative technology, known as Ultra Low Head Micro Hydro Power (ULH-MHP) System, is different from the conventional hydro-power and can generate electricity from low-head water of less than three meters of the existing water supply, which have not been previously considered feasible for hydro power generation.
